Maggie grew up in Seattle, Washington and spent most of her youth gazing at the mountains in the distance and enjoying fly fishing when she could.  She graduated from the University of Maine, Machias in 1997 with a self-designed Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Conservation Biology.  As well, she did some graduate level studies in biology at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, CA.  Since then, she has worked in the fields of fisheries, grass roots watershed conservation, environmental non-profits, and education.  After taking a hiatus to raise children, she has worked for the Maine Natural History Observatory since 2010 and has filled a variety of niche job tasks with the organization where she continues to assist their efforts with the Maine Bird Atlas, various database projects, report and summary development and proofing, and, occasionally, field work.
